Make Any Book Dyslexia Friendly – Digital Books via Borrow Box, a New App at Worcester Library Service

Assistive technology is enabling dyslexic readers to access books in a range of ways. You can make any book or reading material dyslexia-friendly at The Hive in Worcester using several digital tools, physical aids, and dedicated collections.

  • BorrowBox App: As a member of Worcestershire Libraries, you get free access to hundreds of e-books and e-audiobooks using the Worcestershire Libraries BorrowBox Hub.
  • Custom Display Settings: When reading an e-book in the app, tap the bottom-left corner to adjust text size, font, page color/tint, margin size, and line spacing.
  • Dyslexic Font: You can select a specialized font designed specifically to reduce common symptoms of dyslexia

There are also Physical Dyslexia-Friendly Collections available:

  • Dyslexia-Friendly Shelves: The Hive stocks physical books specifically formatted for readers with dyslexia and associated conditions, featuring accessible fonts, spacing, and tinted pages across children’s, teen, and adult sections.
