The Contented Child, Child Wellbeing Consultancy explains THE COKE BOTTLE ANALOGY:

This is a very simple analogy to use with children to explain ‘masking’ and bottling up feelings during the school day.

I usually pass a bottle back and forth between myself and the child whilst discussing the triggers and giving the bottle a good shake.

What is useful to also include is putting the bottle to one side to ‘calm’, therefore demonstrating the value of a pause/stop and think/using a calm space.
