Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Show 2024
HWDA attend seminars, interview contributors and meet the show’s mascots!
The tutors and trustees enjoyed visiting the Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Show at Birmingham’s NEC on Friday 15th March and Saturday 16th March. We attended a seminar and spoke with Dr Susie Nyman on the multi-sensory approach needed for neurodivergent children. We interviewed the Dyscalculia Network, Flexitables, and attended a very informative seminar on Dyscalculia Inclusive Maths Intervention. Other videos from the show include A.R.R.O.W Teaching Technology; Nasen teaching units to share with schools, removing barriers to learning; Connection in Mind, talking about Executive Functioning; Left n Write, the Worcester-based specialist company that focuses on all things left-handed; and Listening Books. You can see all these on our Facebook page by following the individual links on each post below or follow HWDA on Facebook to see all our videos from the Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Show and keep up to date with all our news, too: https://www.facebook.com/hwdyslexia
The HWDA tutors bought some new resources for the workshops and explored the new assistive technology products available. Bev, Senior Tutor at Hereford, is pictured with the world-famous sculptor Mark Stoddart, who is dyslexic, and uses art to inspire young learners.
For the first time, this year’s show co-hosted the Dyscalculia Show. The Dyscalculia Network CIC is a not-for-profit community interest company, run by volunteers to support and advocate for people with dyscalculia and maths learning difficulties. Their website provides in-depth information and brilliant free resources to download at: https://dyscalculianetwork.com/about-the-network/
