Drop In Dates for 2019

They are held in  The Community Room, Waitrose, 223 London Road, Worcester WR5 2JG (just off Junction 7 M5) unless otherwise shown.

All these are DROP IN sessions – feel free to come at any point during the times below.

Thursday 28th November 3.45 – 8.30 p.m. Drop in followed by presentation by Cathy Parvin Handwriting & Dysgraphia Workshop 6.45–8.15 p.m. with Cathy Parvin.

About the speaker:
Cathy came to talk to us about Dyspraxia earlier this year. By popular request she is returning to talk about the difficulties of handwriting and the ways parents or carers can support and help.  Cathy Parvin runs Dyspraxia Education, a charity which supports children with dyspraxia in education.

Thursday 28th November a rescheduled visit – 1pm – 3pm

This lunchtime Ken Upton is running an ECHP review workshop,  https://ehcpworkshop2.eventbrite.co.uk/   (see details below)  and then  is hoping to visit our“drop in” from 3.45 – 5.00 p.m. to talk  informally to parents about any concerns regarding their child’s SEN provision in school, or other ECH plans or related issues.

ECHP review workshop by Ken Upton  from Talking SENse  

Ken will be offering a practical workshop for parents on the review process for children with an  ECHP or who may be about to get one. Annual Reviews offer parents the opportunity to challenge current provision , ensure changes and have a voice in decisions being made.

The workshop will cover:
• Annual Review of Education Health & Care Plan
• How to prepare for the annual review
• Ensuring your views are heard
• Who does what and when
• The LA’s decision and your rights

Where :  The Meadow Room, The Countryside Centre , Worcester Woods, Wildwood Drive, Worcester WR5 2LG

  • 26th September 4.00 – 6.30 p.m – Special Event 6.30-8.30 p.m. Tina Kilgallon supporting mental stress in older children and young people .

Bromsgrove Parent Support Group invite you to a SEND workshop: –

Developing a clearer understanding of SEND and the graduated response in schools

Delivered by SENDIASS: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service or SENDIASS  provides free impartial, confidential and accurate information, advice and support about education, health and social care for children, young people and their parents on matters relating to special educational needs and disability.

During this presentation, SENDIASS will discuss the graduated response , the duties on schools and local authorities and some of the barriers that parents and carers face when navigating the system.

The talk will include:

  • A brief overview of SENDIASS and what it offers
  • The SEND Graduated Response
  • Discuss questions to ask the school if a parent is concerned about their child’s progress.
